Christianity and Tattoos

Robert here! I wanted to take a moment to share something personal that’s really close to my heart—my journey with faith and tattoos. I know it’s a topic that can stir up a lot of different opinions, but for me, it’s been an incredible way to express my faith and the story God’s been writing in my life.

Why I Got My Tattoo

Let me start by telling you about my tattoo. A few years ago, I decided to get the soundwave of “Amazing Grace” inked on my arm. Music has always been a big part of my life, and that song in particular holds a special place in my heart. It’s not just a hymn—it’s a reminder of where I come from and what God has done for me. Every time I look at it, I’m reminded of God’s grace that saved me, even when I didn’t deserve it.

Now, I know some folks might wonder how tattoos fit into a Christian life. There’s that verse in Leviticus that says, “Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.” (Leviticus 19:28). It’s important to understand the context—this was part of the Old Testament law for the Israelites, and many scholars believe it was addressing specific pagan practices.

But when I think about what the New Testament teaches, it’s all about the heart. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 tells us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. For me, honoring God with my body includes using it to testify about His grace—and that’s exactly what my tattoo does.

Tattoos as a Testimony

Tattoos can be a powerful way to share your story. I’ve had countless conversations with people who see the soundwave on my arm and ask me about it. It opens the door to share how God’s amazing grace has changed my life. And it’s not just about the tattoo—it’s about the story behind it, the faith that it represents.

I’ve heard from others who have similar experiences. For example, a customer named Sarah got a tattoo of Philippians 4:13 after coming out of a tough time. That verse, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” became her mantra, and now it’s a daily reminder of the strength she found in Christ. It’s incredible how something so personal can become a tool for sharing God’s work in our lives.

Expressing Faith Through Tattoos and Apparel

If tattoos aren’t your thing, or if you’re looking for another way to express your faith, that’s where our apparel comes in. At God Inspires, we create designs that are more than just clothing—they’re a way to spread God’s Word and share your faith with the world.

One of my favorite collections is our “Living Free” line, inspired by Galatians 5:1. It’s all about the freedom we have in Christ, and it’s a message that resonates with so many people. Whether you’re rocking a tattoo or wearing one of our tees, it’s all about expressing that same powerful message of faith.

Creating Conversations

What I love most about faith-inspired tattoos and apparel is the way they create opportunities for connection. Whether someone comments on your shirt or asks about your tattoo, it’s a chance to share the gospel. And that’s what we’re all about at God Inspires—spreading God’s Word until heaven is full.

Wrapping It Up

At the end of the day, whether or not you choose to get a tattoo is between you and God. What matters is that whatever you do, you do it to honor Him. For me, my “Amazing Grace” tattoo is a daily reminder of His unending love and grace, and I’m proud to share that story with anyone who asks.
